Search for weakly interacting massive particles with the first five-tower data from the cryogenic dark matter search at the soudan underground laboratory.

We report results from the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search at the Soudan Underground Laboratory (CDMS II) featuring the full complement of 30 detectors. A blind analysis of data taken between October 2006 and July 2007 sets an upper limit on the weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) nucleon spin-independent cross section of 6.6x10;{-44} cm;{2} (4.6x10;{-44} cm;{2} when combined with previous ...

Results from the CDMS 5-Tower Operation

Astrophysical observations strongly suggest that non-luminous, nonbaryonic components, so called ”Dark Matter”, may constitute most of the matter in the Universe. The Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) experiment is designed to detect Dark Matter interaction events through nuclear recoils from elastic scattering. The detector is capable of reading out both phonon and ionization energy of an in...

Limits on the Wimp-nucleon Cross-section from the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search

The Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) employs Ge and Si detectors to search for WIMPs via their elastic-scattering interactions with nuclei while discriminating against interactions of background particles. CDMS I data, from the Stanford Underground Facility shallow site, give limits on the spin-independent WIMPnucleon elastic-scattering cross-section that exclude unexplored parameter space a...

Hunting for WIMPs with the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search

The Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) is an experiment whose goal is to detect WIMPs via elastic-scattering interactions in detectors capable of nuclear-recoil discrimination. Recent advances in eliminating a low-energy-electron background are discussed. Data from the current run yield 1 nuclear-recoil candidate above 25 keV recoil energy in 1.7 kg-days of exposure.

From CDMS to SuperCDMS

The Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) and SuperCDMS experiments seek hypothetical weakly-interacting, massive particles (WIMPs) that could account for the majority of matter in the Universe, by means of cryogenic germanium detectors. We provide an update on the status of the SuperCDMS experiment, and discuss the joint CDMS-EDELWEISS analysis.
